Slow Slow Slow

I know getting a new business off the ground can be slow, but still, its driving me a little mad. We had some very good orders last week, all in quick succession- pop pop pop- and now we're going on day five without an order. I hate it ! I want them just to pour in !

Coinciding with the drought, ironically, is our Adwords campaign. Color me surprised when I got home from LA to find that sixty dollars had walked out the door without even a how's your neighbor. Really- I mean for such a vaunted advertising medium, I would have hoped someone would have bought something from us.

Still, as huffy as I might get, I can't be too upset with Google- after all, I'm the ignoramus who set up the campaign, and I'm still monkeying with it. I know you can't wish for magic, but it is very tempting sometimes.

You really can't get upset though- I'd rather have orders, but I do have to remember that this is a new business and that we don't have a big promotional budget or pro's setting everything up, and that I can't just expect it to work instantly. I have a lot of faith in Blingityourself.com- now I just have to put that faith into action, and promote promote promote.

Launching Blingityourself !

Welcome to the Blingityourself.com blog ! This is a business/crafts blog devoted to documenting our mission to spread the power of Bling to every man, woman and child who wants it. So, like a soap opera, let me introduce the players:

Erica Bowman is the driving force behind Blingityourself.com . It was her vision to create a website devoted to selling Swarovski flatback crystal for the self-blinging crowd. She is also a devotee of French bulldogs, Custo and anything adorable and/or fabulous. She provides the energy and design vision that has pushed Blingityourself.com into existence.

Steven Sunshine is one of the owners of General Bead, and the big backer for Blingityourself.com . He has been selling Swarovski crystal products for over thirty years. Recently, he has begun to wonder about the future of his business in the internet age, and how to adapt. When Erica and I brought Blingityourself.com to him, he immediatly recognized that this might be the opportunity he has been searching for.

Finally, there is me, Aaron Sunshine. My girlfriend, Erica, thought up Blingityourself.com two years ago when she and I were about to move to San Diego. It was put on hold for months while we worked at the General Bead in San Diego. When that job began to wind down, Erica and I decided that we wanted to try that idea she had come up with.

Many e-mails and meetings and proposals later, we found our development team and began work on the site. We were fortunate to find some great talent in Krishna Somu and Rakel Hjelmeseth. After several months of work, revisions, and strong language- we all know how getting anything off the ground can be- we launched the site. Which is where are now.

It feels like such an adventure, starting Blingityourself.com . This website is Erica and I's dream business- we're selling a product we love to people who love it. We're bringing creativity, beauty and self-empowerment into people's lives.

The thing that I like most about Blingityourself.com is that unlike the traditional jewelry business is that empower people to make there own beauty, instead of making them choose from what other people have done. Creativity is such an important part of life, and to be a part of that proccess feel's very good.
